This document is designed to complement the MyRelief app and the MOOC. The information in this booklet has been informed by international clinical guidelines, for managing persistent low back pain (clinical guidelines give suggestions on how health problems are best managed). Links to these guidelines and other information used in preparing this guideline are included at the end of the booklet. The booklet is set out in short summary paragraphs describing key recommendations for managing low back pain. The paragraphs are brief and contain links to additional sources of support, so you can read more about topics that are important to you. The information in this booklet has been designed and developed specifically for working adults over the age of 55 years. The booklet focuses on things you can do to manage your back pain. However, a brief section at the end of the booklet provides some information on topics such as surgery, scans, medications and alternative therapies which are often of importance to people with back pain. Healthcare professionals, research staff and people with persistent low back pain have contributed to the development of the booklet.
